THE PROPOSAL - Title of proposal:
"Dimensions of special product of a vehicular area round opening manhole cover, of composite construction, size D895/900, and 125, 250, 400 kN loading test." Proposed material: - fiberglass, fiber reinforced composite (FRC), kevlar layer; GRP/FRP/Composite; SMC composite, a.o.

The proposal comes to settle a private standardization publication/deliverable on the subject of the dimensions of a special product of manhole covers - in order to be in concordance and to complete with requirement of the CEN basic standard,- "EN124 Gully tops and manhole tops for vehicular and pedestrian areas. Design requirements, type testing, marking, quality control", - or other basic standard concerning outdoor, street or residential area, manhole covers - as long as the basic standard does not apply for dimensions of manhole covers.

As conclusion the proposed document (norm) aims to specify the main dimensions for special product of Composite Manhole Cover of D895/900, round opening.


Short description of design related to product and main dimensions:
> Round frame with round opening;
- overall dia. of lid piece, - 895 mm,
- top opening of frame (at top side), - dia. 900 mm, - round,
- top dia. of frame (at top side), - 950 mm, - round,
- outer dia. of base collar/flange of frame, - dia.995mm, - which fits the chambre enterance,.
> to fit an 1000 mm dia. manhole top opening,
- clearance of frame, - about 830 mm,
- optional, holes of at least 10 sq.cm. each one; - as vent/key holes.


The product which the subject of standardization consists in, may be useful as manhole cover for outdoor water supply as well drainage or sewer chambers in vehicular areas.

> concerning the ISO/CEI-2:2004: - technical specification (3.4), technical report (3.5), publicly available specification (3.7).
> concerning the EN45020:2006 description: - pre-standard (3.3), technical specification (3.4), unilaterally aligned standard (6.8), - all of these aligned (related) to the EN124 CEN standard which is a basic standard (5.1).
